When I sent an eDrawing created with the measure option enabled he could do everything he needed.EDrawings Viewer is a companion application for the eDrawings CAD software and can be used to visualize, review and print the designs. I was surprised to hear that he couldn't measure anything. Rather than taking the time to create an eDrawing I just sent him the native file, knowing that eDrawings 2007 can view native data. The reason I ask is that I had a member of my PCB layout department request an eDrawing of a part I was working on so that he could design around it. I understand that there are cases where it's desirable to not allow measurements on an eDrawing file, but doesn't it stand to reason that if I send someone native data I'm OK with measurements being taken? Does anyone know if it's possible to do a measurement in the free eDrawings viewer if you're viewing native SWX data? I know that actual eDrawings files need to be created with the measure option enabled for the measurement tool to work in the free viewer, but I would have suspected that measurements would be possible when viewing native data.
